        "content": "<p>Lawyer says some leaks are welcomed<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Vocal lawyer Luhut Pangaribuan said on Saturday<br>\nthat Minister\/State Secretary Moerdiono's plan to launch an<br>\ninvestigation into how classified government documents fell into<br>\nthe wrong hands misses the point.<\/p>\n<p>Luhut, the chairman of the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute, said<br>\nthat the state documents alleging the financial misconduct of a<br>\ncabinet minister are of public interest.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than seeking a culprit, \"we should be thankful to<br>\nwhoever leaked them,\" Luhut told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n<p>Three documents written by Inspector General for Development<br>\nKentot Harseno for President Soeharto appear to be the basis of<br>\nmedia reports that transportation minister Haryanto Dhanutirto is<br>\nunder investigation for alleged misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Moerdiono did not deny the existence of the letters but said<br>\nthat while some of the allegations might be true, others were<br>\nunfounded. He also cautioned the media to treat the affair with<br>\ncare due to the classified nature of the documents.<\/p>\n<p>Moerdiono said the leak could have come from one of three<br>\ngovernment agencies that were privy to the documents: the State<br>\nSecretariat, the Vice Presidential Office and the Office of the<br>\nInspector General for Development.<\/p>\n<p>Luhut said that even if the disclosures were politically<br>\nmotivated, the news of misappropriated and unaccounted-for state<br>\nfunds is clearly public domain.
