Law on manpower<\/p>\n

The Minister of Manpower and the House of Representatives are
\ndebating the bill on manpower. The law on manpower will hopefully
\nguarantee the rights of workers just as the International Labor
\nOrganization (ILO) protects workers. No demonstration needs to be
\nstaged and no protest needs to be launched if the manpower law is
\nenacted. In fact, the ILO allows demonstrations but they should
\nbe carried out in a constructive and orderly manner.<\/p>\n
Both the workers and the companies have their respective
\nresponsibilities. So it is quite natural to hope that the workers
\nalso have a sense of belonging (better still if they own a
\nfraction of the shares), to conform with the Pancasila economy.<\/p>\n
As is often the case, industrially advanced countries put
\npressure on their workers, give low pay and set long working
\nhours (eight hours per day).<\/p>\n
I hope the law on manpower will truly guarantee workers'
\nrights.<\/p>\n
