        "content": "<p>Deputy Speaker of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari\nMoerdijat has stated that improvements are still needed in the\nresolution of child violence cases. She noted that the punishment of\nperpetrators has yet to succeed in breaking the cycle of violence.\n\u201cAnother issue is that the legal handling of perpetrators has not been\nable to fully break the chain of violence,\u201d said Rerie, as she is\nfamiliarly known, during an online Denpasar 12 Forum Discussion on\nWednesday (8\/7). Furthermore, cooperation is required from all parties,\nfrom the central government to the community. The large number of child\nviolence cases cannot possibly be resolved by the Ministry of Women\u2019s\nEmpowerment and Child Protection alone. Therefore, building a\nmulti-party ecosystem is the right path. Data from the Online\nInformation System for the Protection of Women and Children (SIMFONI\nPPA) recorded approximately 11,900 cases in 2021. This figure rose to\n19,628 cases in 2024, a significant increase of over 10 percent. \u201cWhat\nmust be observed is that this situation demands critical examination\nbetween the actual increase in violence and the realisation that this is\nan emergency situation,\u201d she said. Rerie emphasised that all\nregulations, including Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence\nCrimes and other rules, are already in place, but the challenge lies in\nensuring that the derivative regulations of the law are properly\nelaborated. Ahead of National Children\u2019s Day on 23 July 2026, Rerie\ninvited the public to support a joint campaign to protect children,\nstarting from strengthening protection and parenting patterns from the\nsmallest unit, the family. \u201cIf Indonesian children are protected from\nnow on, we will surely have a superior and competitive generation,\u201d she\nconcluded.<\/p>",
