JAKARTA \u2014 The construction of the Latumenten Flyover in West Jakarta\nhas triggered prolonged traffic congestion due to road narrowing during\nthe project. Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) legislators\nhave called on the Transport Agency (Dishub) to immediately prepare\nsolutions to prevent the congestion from worsening.<\/p>\n
PDIP faction member of the Jakarta Provincial DPRD, Hardiyanto\nKenneth, said many residents have complained about the congestion caused\nby the narrowing of Latumenten Road from three lanes to just one active\nlane.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany residents have complained to me. This construction process has\ncreated extraordinary congestion because of the road narrowing,\u201d Kenneth\nsaid on Monday (23\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n
Hardiyanto Kenneth said the congestion is also exacerbated by\nMinitrans or Jaklingko public transport vehicles stopping immediately\nafter the railway crossing. \u201cThe minibuses stop right after the railway\ncrossing. This worsens the congestion. The stopping point should be\nshifted slightly so that the flow of vehicles keeps moving,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Kenneth highlighted the absence of restrictions on\nheavy vehicles at the project site. \u201cWith only one lane remaining, heavy\nvehicles are still passing through. This is clearly not ideal. There\nshould be strict regulation during the project,\u201d Kenneth said.<\/p>\n
Kenneth assessed that the regional government needs to prepare a\nwell-considered traffic engineering plan during the project. \u201cWe are\nasking Dishub to find concrete solutions,\u201d said the Commission C member\nof the Jakarta Provincial DPRD.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Jakarta Provincial Transport Agency,\nUjang Harmawan, said his office has advised the public to use\nalternative routes. \u201cWe will coordinate with transport operators in the\nwestern area. The provincial government has also written to the central\ngovernment. We will provide updates later,\u201d Ujang Harmawan said.<\/p>\n
