        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian government, through the Ministry\nof Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), continues to strive for two Pertamina-owned\noil tanker ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz amid the ceasefire\nbetween the United States (US) and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main point is that we are endeavouring for the Pertamina ships\nto cross the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d said Spokesperson for the Indonesian\nMinistry of Foreign Affairs, Vahd Nabyl, during a press conference held\nat the Ministry\u2019s office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (8\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The two Pertamina ships detained in the Strait of Hormuz are the\nPertamina Pride and MT Gamsunoro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are several rather technical matters that are indeed being\nfollowed up to ensure safety for crossing from there. This includes,\namong others, matters such as insurance and crew readiness,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran has coordinated with\nthe Iranian government as well as the Iranian Embassy to Indonesia in\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis includes actions by the Foreign Minister in meetings with the\nIranian Ambassador and also by our Ambassador in Tehran with authorities\nin Iran,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Nabyl emphasised that the government wants freedom of navigation to\nbe respected while still complying with international law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor two weeks, a safe route through the Strait of Hormuz has been\nopened through coordination with the Iranian Armed Forces and taking\ninto account technical limitations,\u201d wrote Iranian Foreign Minister\nAbbas Araghchi on X, quoted from AFP.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council, in a separate statement,\nsaid that negotiations are scheduled to take place for two weeks but can\nbe extended by mutual agreement of the parties.<\/p>\n<p>On another occasion, Trump stated that the agreement to open the\nStrait of Hormuz was reached in the final minutes of the deadline he had\ngiven to Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be a two-sided ceasefire!\u201d Trump wrote on his Truth Social\nplatform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason is that we have met and exceeded all military objectives,\nand we are already far along in reaching a definitive agreement on\nlong-term peace with Iran, and peace in the Middle East,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
