Indonesia plans to increase its LPG imports from the United States to 70% of supply, up from the current 57%, as part of a new trade agreement aimed at securing energy supplies and obtaining competitive pricing. Pertamina's director will conduct the US$15 billion energy import programme through transparent tendering processes.

Indonesia plans to increase its share of Liquefied Petroleum Gas
(LPG) imports from the United States to 70%. This follows a new trade
agreement between Indonesia and the United States.

Pertamina Director-General Simon Aloysius Mantiri explained that this
step forms part of a strategy to diversify energy sources to secure
supply whilst obtaining competitive pricing. Prior to the new agreement,
Indonesia’s LPG supply was already heavily dependent on the United
States.

“We know that Pertamina has been importing a fairly substantial share
from the United States at approximately 57%. With this trade agreement,
we will be able to increase this to up to 70%,” said Simon during an
online press conference from the United States on Monday, 2 March
2026.

Simon stressed that the implementation of the US$15 billion energy
import programme would proceed according to fair business principles and
with transparency. The company guarantees there will be no direct
appointment mechanism, but rather a transparent tender process open to
qualifying partners in the United States.

“The plan for energy imports from the United States, firstly,
involves business as usual—no direct appointment, but rather the usual
tendering and bidding mechanisms that are open,” he stated.

Mantiri acknowledged that Indonesia is currently facing challenges
from natural decline in upstream oil and gas production, so imports are
necessary to bridge the gap between domestic production and consumption
whilst awaiting efforts to increase production to bear fruit.

“We are also making efforts to increase our production, which we know
is experiencing natural decline and certainly requires breakthroughs. To
meet the current gap, we still need imports,” he added.

According to monitoring by CNBC Indonesia, in South Tangerang as of
March 2026, the highest retail price for 3kg LPG remains at Rp19,000 per
bottle, consistent with the government-set maximum retail price (HET) in
South Tangerang.

At one LPG station in South Tangerang, Pangkalan LPG Ayanih, the 3kg
LPG price remains at Rp19,000 per bottle, in line with government
guidelines.

“(3kg LPG price) Rp19,000,” said an attendant at the station on
Monday, 2 March 2026.

At the retail level, such as Toko Jejen, 3kg LPG is sold at Rp22,000
per bottle, including delivery charges to customers’ addresses.

Non-subsidised 5.5kg and 12kg LPG prices remain unchanged. At the
retail level in South Tangerang, Toko Jejen, 5.5kg LPG is priced at
Rp110,000 per bottle, whilst 12kg LPG is priced at Rp210,000 per
bottle.

The non-subsidised LPG prices in March 2026 have not increased
compared to February 2026.

However, these prices are higher compared to the official prices
released by Pertamina, particularly for official Pertamina LPG
agents.

The following lists non-subsidised LPG prices for 5.5kg and 12kg
bottles at official Pertamina agent level, including value-added tax
(VAT), effective from 22 November 2023:

Non-PSO household LPG prices at agent level outside a 60km radius of
the filling plant include the agent-level prices below plus
transportation costs.

Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Jambi, South
Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi:

5.5kg LPG: Rp94,000

12kg LPG: Rp194,000

Bangka Belitung, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South
Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, Southeast
Sulawesi:

5.5kg LPG: Rp97,000

12kg LPG: Rp202,000

Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East
Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara:

5.5kg LPG: Rp90,000

12kg LPG: Rp192,000

North Kalimantan:

5.5kg LPG: Rp107,000

12kg LPG: Rp229,000

Maluku, Papua:

5.5kg LPG: Rp117,000

12kg LPG: Rp249,000
",
