        "content": "<p>A fatal accident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train on the\nGambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi route and a commuter line (KRL) train bound\nfor Cikarang occurred at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday evening, 27\nApril 2026. Dozens of people died in the train accident.<\/p>\n<p>The collision in Bekasi began when the KRL was stationary on track 1\nat Bekasi Timur Station. The train had stopped due to a disruption\nahead, namely a collision between another train and a taxi.<\/p>\n<p>The Argo Bromo Anggrek train then appeared shortly afterwards from\nbehind and rammed into the stationary KRL body at the station. The\ncollision caused the Commuter Line carriage, particularly the women-only\nsection, to crumple.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the facts of the incident up to Wednesday, 29 April\n2026:<\/p>\n<p>Number of Fatalities: 15 People<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development\nAgus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that the number of fatalities in\nthe train accident at Bekasi Timur Station has risen to 15 people. \u201cThe\nupdate as of 1 p.m. today shows 15 people have passed away and 88 others\nare still receiving treatment,\u201d said AHY during his inspection of the\nsite on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>AHY explained that a joint team has evacuated all victims previously\ntrapped inside the carriages, including three victims who were pinned\nand are now receiving hospital care. \u201cIt can be said that everyone has\nbeen successfully evacuated and removed from the impacted carriage from\nlast night,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to AHY, the current focus of handling is not only on the\nevacuation process but also on victim recovery and normalisation of the\naffected rail lines. He stated that the process of lifting the damaged\ntrain carriages is ongoing, including the KRL carriage directly impacted\nin the accident.<\/p>\n<p>Basarnas Halts Victim Search<\/p>\n<p>The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) halted the search\nfor victims of the accident between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the\nKRL at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. Basarnas Chief\nAir Marshal TNI Mohammad Syafii said the search operation was closed at\n08:00 WIB after all evacuation processes were completed. \u201cAt 08:00 it\nwas finished, and all our SAR teams have been returned to their\nrespective bases,\u201d Syafii said at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Syafii, the SAR team completed the search and evacuation\nprocess in less than 12 hours since the incident occurred. The summons was to seek\nclarification following the accident between the Cikarang KRL and the\nArgo Bromo Anggrek train at Bekasi Timur Station the previous day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have formed a special team to delve into the involvement of the\nXanh SM taxi, including its licensing, administrative completeness,\nfulfilment of safety standards, and compliance with public transport\noperational regulations,\u201d said Director General of Land Transportation\nAan Suhanan in an official statement on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that public safety is the top priority, so any potential\nviolations will be addressed according to regulations.
