Late Arifin C. Noor among nominees for TV awards<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The late Arifin C. Noor is among the nominees
\nfor awards to be presented at the second Indonesian Sinetron
\nFestival on Dec. 7.<\/p>\n
The announcement, aired live on Saturday by the state-owned
\nTVRI and the five private TV stations -- RCTI, SCTV, TPI, ANTeve
\nand Indosiar -- confirmed speculation about who the nominees
\nwould be.<\/p>\n
Sinetron is the Indonesian name for television drama.<\/p>\n
Arifin was nominated for Best Director for his sinetron Keris
\n(Kris), his last work prior to his death in May.<\/p>\n
Other nominees for Best Director are Enison Sinaro, for
\nMenghitung Hari (Counting the Days); Imam Tantowi, for Jejak Sang
\nGuru (The Teacher's Footsteps); Putu Wijaya, for Dukun Palsu
\n(Fake Medicine Man); and Teguh Karya, for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan
\n(Apparel and Fallacy).<\/p>\n
Nominees for Best Actor are Dedi Sutomo, for his performance
\nin Dendam (Grudge); Didi Petet for Keris; Purnomo for Jejak Sang
\nGuru; Sandi Nayoan for Menghitung Hari; and Yono Daryono for
\nJejak Sang Guru.<\/p>\n
The Best Actress nomination went to Anita Carolina for Inang
\nPartihan; Clara Shinta for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan; Cut Keke for
\nNyai Dasima; Pertiwi Hasan for Jejak Sang Guru; and Yatie
\nSurachman for Dukun Palsu.<\/p>\n
The Best Supporting Actor nomination went to Charlie Sahetapi
\nfor Nyai Dasima; El Manik for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan; Fuad Idris
\nfor Menghitung Hari; Yoyok Aryo for Topeng Sang Kekasih (A
\nLover's Mask); and Zainal Abidin for Pakaian dan Kepalsuan.<\/p>\n
Nominees for Best Supporting Actress are Alin Sahertian, for
\nNyai Dasima; Niniek L. Karim, for Indonesia Berbisik (Indonesia
\nWhispers); Ninok Wiryono for Keris; Ully Arta for Pakaian dan
\nKepalsuan; and Yuningsih for Topeng Sang Kekasih.<\/p>\n
The nominees for single-episode sinetron are Jejak Sang Guru,
\nPakaian dan Kepalsuan, Senyum yang terampas (The Wrenched Smile),
\nall directed by Arya Kusumadewa; and Topeng Sang Kekasih,
\ndirected by Supranyata.<\/p>\n
Best Comedy sinetron nominees are Dukun Palsu (Putu Wijaya),
\nFlamboyan 108 (Deby Sahertian), Gara-Gara (Hadi Purnomo) and
\nPepesan Kosong (Ali Sahab).<\/p>\n
The Best Cinematography nomination went to Edi Surjono for
\nSenyum Yang Terampas, Nur Hidayat (Indonesia Berbisik), Sri Atmo
\n(Biola Bangsaku -- My People's Violin) and Wiralda (Keris).<\/p>\n
For non-fiction sinetron there are three categories: drama,
\neducation, and cultural and tourist information.<\/p>\n
About 600 sinetron were entered in the festival and the
\nselection committee has chosen 41 works consisting of 10 one-
\nepisode sinetron, 16 serials, and 15 comedy serials. The jurors,
\nled by Amoroso Katamsi, consist of Idris Sardi, Jajang Pamuncak,
\nEl Manik, Marwah Daud, Sophan Sophiaan, and George Kamarulah.<\/p>\n
The selection committee's announcement of the winners on Dec.
\n7 from the 21 Concert Hall will be aired live by the six TV
