Laskar Jihad will leave Poso<\/p>\n
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Former chairman of the Central
\nSulawesi branch of the \"Ahlussunah wal Jamaah\" Communication
\nForum, which oversees the Laskar Jihad Muslim militia group,
\nZabir, disclosed here on Monday that all members of the militia
\nwould leave the Poso conflict area by the end of next month.<\/p>\n
\"All 200 members of the militia (mainly deployed to Poso)
\nwill leave Central Sulawesi province by the end of next month at
\nthe latest,\" Zabir told Antara.<\/p>\n
On Saturday Oct. 12, the militia's commander Jafar Umar Thalib
\ndissolved Laskar Jihad, saying that the militia was no longer
\nneeded as a legion.<\/p>\n
He said the organization would alternate its activities to
\nserve in social and religious missions in the fields of
\neducation, health care and Islamic propagation.<\/p>\n
Following the dissolution, some 780 members left the Ambon
\nconflict area in Maluku province for their respective hometowns
\nin Java.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Zabir pointed out that some 70 members had left
\nPoso, while the rest would be sent back to Java gradually.
