Landslide blocks road in West Java<\/p>\n
MAJALENGKA, West Java: Access to the main road connecting
\nMajalengka and Kuningan regencies in West Java was cut off due to
\na landslide in Cimeong subdistrict, Majalengka regency.<\/p>\n
The road has been blocked since dawn on Tuesday, preventing
\nresidents in the two regencies from traveling between the two
\nareas. Mud was seen covering the road for the length of one
\nkilometer. No fatalities or damage to buildings were reported due
\nto the incident.<\/p>\n
The depth of the mud varied. In some spots, the mud was 50
\ncentimeters deep, but in other spots, it reached up to 150
\ncentimeters deep. The landslide occurred on Tuesday after
\ntorrential rain pounded the hill in the Cimeong subdistrict. The
\nlandslide seemed a probable consequence of denudation as there
\nwas hardly any vegetation seen on the hill.<\/p>\n
Majalengka administration officials began to deploy excavators
\nto remove the mud from the road on Tuesday afternoon. Dozens of
\ntrucks were deployed as well to carry away the mud.<\/p>\n
