A fire has struck the Bojong Canar landfill in Cikedal District,\nPandeglar Regency. The flames have been raging for several hours and\nhave not yet been extinguished.<\/p>\n
The fire occurred on Monday (31\/8) at approximately 16:00 WIB. The\nFire and Rescue team is still working to suppress the blaze.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fire has been burning for about 21 hours because it started\nyesterday afternoon and is still being handled,\u201d said the Secretary of\nBPBD-PK Pandeglang, Nana Mulyana, on Monday (1\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
The fire is difficult to extinguish as it is located at the base of\nthe waste piles. Authorities are coordinating with the Environmental\nAgency (LH) to deploy heavy machinery to break up the waste.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are attempting to break up the piles while spraying them with\nwater; we are trying that technique,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Nana noted that this incident has occurred twice before, though he\ncould not yet explain the cause.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cannot determine the cause yet because there were no witnesses,\nso we do not dare to state the origin. However, the main point is that\nthere are several fire spots within the landfill area,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Illegal Waringinkurung Landfill<\/strong><\/p>\n A previous fire also struck the illegal Waringinkurung landfill in\nSerang Regency, Banten, lasting for several days. That fire broke out on\nFriday night (28\/8\/2026) at around 18:00 WIB.<\/p>\n Heavy machinery was deployed to extinguish the flames, with four fire\nengines and one unit of heavy equipment sent to the location.<\/p>\n \u201cRegarding the current condition, there are no large flames. Only\nsmoke remains, as the fire is beneath the surface of the waste piles,\nmaking it difficult to extinguish,\u201d said Waringinkurung Police Chief,\nIptu Hari Purwanto, when contacted on Sunday (30\/8).<\/p>\n \u201cIn terms of handling efforts, we have coordinated with the local\nsub-district leadership (Muspika) regarding the need for heavy\nmachinery, and fortunately, the machinery arrived today. One excavator\nhas been deployed and is coordinating with the fire department,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n By the fourth day, the fire had not yet been extinguished. Police\nstated that suppression would likely require another two days as several\nfire spots remained active.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is still in progress; it will likely take one to two more days to\nfinish,\u201d said Police Chief Iptu Hari Purwanto on Monday (31\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n \u201cThe smoke has begun to decrease, with only a few spots remaining,\nbecause the heavy machinery started working yesterday,\u201d said Hari.<\/p>\n Hari confirmed that there was no need to evacuate residents near the\nWaringinkurung landfill. He has also coordinated with the local\ncommunity health centre (Puskesmas).<\/p>\n \u201cAlhamdulillah, the residents are fine. No one was evacuated. We have\ncoordinated with the health centre, and there have been no patients\nseeking treatment due to the smoke,\u201d said Hari.<\/p>",
