Land seizure in Serpong delayed<\/p>\n
TANGERANG, West Java (JP): The Tangerang District Court has
\npostponed confiscation of a golf course and a 70-hectare plot of
\nland in Gading Serpong.<\/p>\n
Tangerang District Court Chief Soedardji ordered the
\nconfiscation at the behest of heirs of the late Tan Hok Tjioe,
\nwho owned the property. The order, issued on June 5 this year,
\nwas based on a decision by the chief of the Central Jakarta
\nDistrict Court on Jan. 6, 1996.<\/p>\n
It was the follow-up of the decision taken under the Dutch
\ncolonial Radd Van Justitie order issued back in 1940. But the
\nproblem had been dragging on until one of the heirs, Tan Siu Ek
\nasked the court that the confiscation order be reinstated in 1990
\nand it was agreed upon by the Jakarta District court.<\/p>\n
However, Soedardji said, the planned confiscation met stiff
\nresistance from the golf course's chief security guard, Tambunan,
\nfor various reasons.<\/p>\n
Quarrels took place between members of the confiscation team
\nand Tambunan, who was adamant that the poles set up be pulled
\ndown.<\/p>\n
In order to prevent more serious physical clashes, the
\nTangerang District Court, the Chinuni village chief and a group
\nof policemen and servicemen postponed the confiscation pending a
