Land row not to delay renovation<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The City Council's Chairman of Commission E,
\nwhich oversees public welfare, said on Thursday a developer
\nshould continue renovating state junior high school SMP 43
\ndespite a land dispute.<\/p>\n
\"The developer should continue the renovation work of the
\nschool as soon as possible. The land dispute between the city
\nauthorities and M. Matun, the former head of the Mampang Prapatan
\nsubdistrict, should not disrupt the learning process,\" Atje
\nMuljadi said.<\/p>\n
M. Matun claims that the school is built on his land and
\nerected a fence around it.<\/p>\n
\"The land belongs to the city administration as M. Matun
\ncouldn't even show the land certificate to the officials who
\nasked him about it,\" South Jakarta Mayor Pardjoko said.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, H. Prawoto S. Danoemihardjo, an assistant at city
\ndevelopment affairs, said the order for the demolition of the
\nfence would be issued this month.<\/p>\n
\"The south Jakarta mayor has ordered the demolition of the
\nfence, but every time we demolished it, M. Atun and his men build
\nit again,\" Atje said.<\/p>\n
The renovation, which will costs Rp 1.5 billion (US$ 681,818),
\nhas been delayed for 14 months. (31)<\/p>",
