        "content": "<p>The North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Service\n(Gulkarmat) stated that the trigger for the land fire in the Kampung\nBandan, Ancol area on Monday afternoon was suspected to be cigarette\nbutts thrown carelessly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspected cause of the fire, which covered an area of 5,000\nsquare metres, was cigarette butts being discarded carelessly, which\nignited the blaze,\u201d said Gatot Sulaeman, Head of Operations for North\nJakarta and Thousand Islands Gulkarmat, in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>According to a witness who was playing pigeon racing at the location,\nthey observed a lit cigarette butt being thrown away, which subsequently\nignited bamboo materials on the land.<\/p>\n<p>Gatot noted that the materials caught in the fire included reeds and\npiles of bamboo present on the site. \u201cWe estimate the temporary losses\nat Rp60 million,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was successfully extinguished after officers struggled for\nover five hours to suppress the flames. \u201cWe deployed 80 personnel and 15\nfire engines to extinguish the fire,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was reported by residents at 12:55 WIB, and officers arrived\nat the scene at 13:02 WIB to begin firefighting operations. The fire was\nsuccessfully localised and entered the cooling phase at 14:22 WIB, with\nthe flames fully extinguished by 18:22 WIB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlhamdulillah, the situation has been brought under control and the\nfire has been successfully extinguished,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
