The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of East Lampung Regency\nconsiders the presence of the Integrated People\u2019s School to be a\nstrategic step in reducing the number of children dropping out of\nschool, particularly those from poor and extremely poor families,\nthrough free boarding education.<\/p>\n
East Lampung DPRD Speaker Rida Rotul Aliyah said the boarding school\noffers a glimmer of hope for communities classified as poor and\nextremely poor.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst of all, we are certainly proud on behalf of the community that\nthe People\u2019s School has arrived in East Lampung Regency. This is a\nglimmer of hope, especially for residents in Decile 1 and Decile 2\ngroups, so that in the future no more children drop out of school,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n
According to her, the arrival of the People\u2019s School in East Lampung\nis also an important milestone because it is the first people\u2019s school\nto be established at district\/city level in Lampung Province.<\/p>\n
She said the programme is a form of government affirmation in\nensuring that children from underprivileged families continue to obtain\ntheir right to a proper education, while opening opportunities for them\nto improve their standard of living.<\/p>\n
She therefore expressed appreciation for the response and commitment\nof the East Lampung Regency Government, which has demonstrated its\nability to work in synergy to deliver the community-based education\nprogramme.<\/p>\n
The People\u2019s School is part of the national strategic programme of\nthe President of the Republic of Indonesia, which is not only oriented\ntowards education but is also directed at breaking the chain of\nintergenerational poverty.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an extraordinary programme from the President as a genuine\neffort to eradicate the school dropout rate. We must all collaborate; it\nis not only the government\u2019s task but also on behalf of the community,\u201d\nshe said.<\/p>\n
She also encouraged the public to help publicise the existence of the\nPeople\u2019s School so that families who meet the criteria can learn about\nand benefit from the programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us together spread the word that a People\u2019s School has been\nestablished in East Lampung,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The presence of the Integrated People\u2019s School in East Lampung\nprovides free access to education with boarding facilities and character\ndevelopment. These facilities are expected to create a learning\nenvironment that supports the academic and personal development of\nstudents.<\/p>\n
The programme is also expected to have a long-term impact on\nimproving the quality of human resources and the Human Development Index\n(HDI) of East Lampung.<\/p>\n
