Laksamana Sukardi's nepotism<\/p>\n
Nepotism, one of reform's arch foes, will now be practiced
\nagain by the powers that be. Ignoring shame, rationality and
\npublic sensitivity, State Minister of State Enterprises Laksamana
\nSukardi will appoint his elder brother, Samudra Sukardi, as
\npresident director of Garuda.<\/p>\n
If it happens, it will be the worst example set by the
\nadministration of Megawati Soekarnoputri. It will be very bad as
\nit will show the government accommodates nepotism which, just
\nwait and see, is likely to bring back corruption and collusion.<\/p>\n
Choosing his own brother, whatever the reason, clearly
\nconflicts with the spirit against corruption, collusion and
\nnepotism, which Laksamana Sukardi is meant to be part of.<\/p>\n
It is a very dangerous thing if it is not nipped in the bud.
\nIt is a disease, which, instead of minimizing corruptive
\npractices, will make them more widely practiced.<\/p>\n
Appointing Samudra Sukardi as president director of Garuda is
\nobviously a decision that opposes all anti-corruption
\ninitiatives, betrays the conscience of the people and ignores the
\nsensitivity of a nation who so urgently require a clean and
\ntransparent administration.<\/p>\n
