Labroy Marine seeks listing<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE (Reuter): Labroy Marine Ltd said yesterday it has
\nreceived approval in principle for a main board listing on the
\nStock Exchange of Singapore.<\/p>\n
The Singapore-based marine company, formerly called Heng Huat
\nShipbuilding and Construction, also has offices in Indonesia and
\nAustralia.<\/p>\n
Labroy builds commercial vessels, tugs, barges and marine
\nsteel structures, and provides shiprepair and conversion
\nservices, mainly at its 12-ha shipyard in Batam, Indonesia.<\/p>\n
It operates and charters tugs, barges, general cargo vessels
\nand livestock carriers and provides towing and dredging services.
\nIt also owns and operates a private wharf in Australia to
\ncomplement the livestock carrier business.<\/p>\n
The group operates a fleet of 110 vessels and has carved a
\nniche in the livestock transportation business.<\/p>\n
Group turnover was Singapore $69.4 million in 1995 while
\npretax was S$11.2 million.<\/p>\n
Labroy said in a statement it planned to increase its existing
\nfleet of livestock carriers and to diversify into the product
\ntanker business.<\/p>\n
It was broadening its shiprepair business by adding a new
\nfloating dock it built itself, the statement said.<\/p>",
