        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Draft Law (RUU) on Labour Protection includes\na specific chapter regarding digital platform workers as part of an\neffort to build a labour system capable of anticipating changes in the\nworld of work and digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>During a working meeting with the government in Jakarta on Monday,\nthe Deputy Chairperson of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives (DPR RI), Putih Sari, stated that regulations concerning\ndigital platform workers are contained within Chapter IX of the Draft\nLaw on Labour Protection.<\/p>\n<p>Digital platform workers are one of the 20 chapters included in the\nDraft Law, which overall consists of 264 articles.<\/p>\n<p>Putih explained that the Draft Law on Labour Protection was drafted\nas an effort to build a national labour system that provides stronger\nprotection to workers while simultaneously providing legal certainty for\nworkers, employers, and the government.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the Bill is also directed towards anticipating\nchanges in the working world and digital transformation; strengthening\nlabour supervision and law enforcement; and creating a balance between\nworker protection, business sustainability, economic growth, and\nnational competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>At the same as this, the DPR is also drafting several other bills\nrelated to the development of digital-based work and transport,\nincluding the Bill on Traffic and Road Transport (LLAJ), the Bill on\nOnline Transportation, and the Bill on the Protection of Gig Economy\nWorkers.<\/p>\n<p>Putih explained that the drafting of the Labour Protection Bill is\nmotivated by the fact that current labour regulations are scattered\nacross various rules and have undergone several changes.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to regulating digital platform workers, the Bill contains\nseveral other chapters covering equal opportunity and treatment, labour\nplanning, training and apprenticeships, labour placement, expansion of\nemployment opportunities, informal sector workers, the use of foreign\nworkers, employment relationships, wages and welfare, industrial\nrelations, and termination of employment.<\/p>\n<p>The Draft Law on Labour Protection was previously approved as an\ninitiative of the Indonesian House of Representatives during the DPR RI\nPlenary Session on 7 August 2026 and has been included in the 2025-2029\nNational Legislative Program (Prolegnas).<\/p>\n<p>The Draft Law on Labour Protection is targeted to be passed into law\nby October 2026.<\/p>",
