Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, emphasised\nthat vocational education students need to master not only technical\ncompetencies but also human skills, such as communication, teamwork,\nnegotiation, and adaptability, as preparation for entering the\nprofessional world.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we want is not someone who, for example, only masters coding.\nMorning, afternoon, evening, night, coding. But they cannot socialise\nwithin their work team or interact with others. Therefore, these human\nskills are vital,\u201d the Minister stated in a briefing in Jakarta on\nThursday.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Yassierli stated that human skills themselves need to be\ntrained from the student stage through learning processes and\nexperiences that allow them to interact with others.<\/p>\n
Presentation skills, communication, teamwork, and negotiation, he\nnoted, are components that must be continuously practised before\nstudents enter the workforce.<\/p>\n
In addition to preparing work competencies, Yassierli reminded\nstudents to build concern for societal issues.<\/p>\n
According to him, higher education also plays a role in shaping\nstudents who are capable of conveying ideas and aspirations\nresponsibly.<\/p>\n
\u201cStudents must serve as the nation\u2019s moral vanguard. Please speak up.\nIndonesia needs students who care,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Minister Yassierli also stated that the courage of students to\nexpress their views is part of the dynamics of social life. However,\ncriticism and aspirations must be delivered with a good, polite, and\nresponsible attitude.<\/p>\n
Therefore, Yassierli encouraged students to utilise their university\nyears to build a complete foundation, ranging from technical competence\nand human skills to industrial experience, organisational abilities, and\nsocial concern.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully, in three or four years, when students enter the industry,\ngraduates will not only be ready to work but also capable of developing\nthe industry. And hopefully, from here, the leaders of the future will\nalso emerge,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Yassierly expressed his appreciation for the\nlearning approach at the Mitra Industri Polytechnic in Bekasi, which\nprovides opportunities for students to gain experience through projects\nand industry networking.<\/p>\n
