        "content": "<p>Laborer's rights<\/p>\n<p>From Merdeka<\/p>\n<p>The workers' demonstrations taking place in some industries in<br>\nSurabaya and its surrounding areas are an indication that there<br>\nare some companies still reluctant to abide by the instruction of<br>\nthe minister of manpower concerning the right of the workers to<br>\nget a pay increase and be paid overwork.<\/p>\n<p>The pay increment will help alleviate the burden of the<br>\nworkers' lives. In the meantime, one company in Tandes, Surabaya,<br>\nwas reported to have sacked one of its workers who had worked<br>\nwith the company for three years without giving severance money.<\/p>\n<p>The unfortunate worker brought the case to the provincial<br>\nManpower Office.
