Laborers' case adjourned<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The hearing of a law suit filed by laborers
\nagainst the city government was adjourned yesterday, with the
\njudge saying that the plaintiff's dossier was imprecise.<\/p>\n
Presiding judge Benjamin Mangkoedilaga said the session would
\nbe reopened after the plaintiff, Teater Buruh or the Laborers'
\nTheater, revised its dossier.<\/p>\n
\"The plaintiff should pinpoint only one defendant, that is,
\neither the head of the city directorate of social and political
\naffairs or head of the city tourism agency,\" Benjamin said.<\/p>\n
The theater group, whose members are workers from various
\nbuilding sites in and around Jakarta, filed the lawsuit against
\nthe head of the city directorate of social and political affairs
\nand head of the city tourism agency for banning the performance
\nof a play by the group last month.<\/p>\n
The city government banned the play, which is concerned with
\nthe daily life of Indonesian workers, on the grounds that it
\ncould spark social unrest. It also argued that the world buruh
\n(laborer) used in the dialogs was unacceptable because it had
\nbeen used by the outlawed Indonesian Communist Party in its
\npropaganda.<\/p>\n
The theater group's lawyer, Pardomuan Simanjuntak, said he
\nwould amend the dossier as soon as possible. (29)<\/p>",
