Kwik admits mistake in corruption remark<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI
\nPerjuangan) executive board chairman Kwik Kian Gie said Thursday
\nthat he was wrong to label the party as the most corrupt of the
\ncountry's political parties.<\/p>\n
"I was told that I was wrong (in naming the party as the most
\ncorrupt)," Kwik said after a meeting with President Megawati
\nSoekarnoputri, in her capacity as PDI Perjuangan chairwoman, at
\nthe State Palace on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He was accompanied at the meeting by Manpower and
\nTransmigration Minister Jacob Nuwa Wea and State Minister for
\nState-Owned Enterprises Laksamana Sukardi.<\/p>\n
Kwik, the State Minister of National Development
\nPlanning\/Bappenas, said his statement was a connotation in nature
\nwhich was not based on any calculation, and therefore it was
\nwrong.<\/p>\n
He, however, said that he would remain critical of the party
\nand the government.<\/p>\n
"However, I have to be more careful," he added.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Megawati did not comment much, Kwik said.<\/p>\n
"It seems that she knew the problem before we brought it to
\nher."<\/p>\n
Kwik said last Monday that PDI Perjuangan was the most corrupt
\npolitical party in Indonesia and that it would break apart in the
