US Special Envoy Jared Kushner and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin\nNetanyahu have agreed on further steps in the Gaza ceasefire plan,\nincluding the opportunity to continue implementing the agreement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe agreed with Netanyahu on the way forward. The Israeli side will\nprovide an opportunity. Now it is Hamas\u2019s turn to show whether they\ntruly intend to comply with the agreement,\u201d said a Board of Peace\nofficial quoted by The Jerusalem Post on Monday.<\/p>\n
Reuters later reported, citing several sources, that Kushner and\nNetanyahu agreed that the disarmament of Hamas must be carried out\nbefore the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
Netanyahu was also reported to have agreed to the establishment of\nworking groups on disarmament and demilitarisation, as well as public\nhealth in Gaza.<\/p>\n
The meeting between Kushner and Netanyahu lasted around four\nhours.<\/p>\n
CNN previously reported that Kushner urged Israel to support the\nUS-proposed ceasefire plan and not to \u201ccreate obstacles\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, Netanyahu was reported to view the implementation of the\nplan as \u201cproblematic\u201d because Israel will hold elections at the end of\nOctober.<\/p>\n
On 9 October 2025, Israel and Hamas, through the mediation of Egypt,\nQatar, the US and Turkey, agreed to implement the first phase of the\npeace plan proposed by President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
The ceasefire came into effect in the Gaza Strip a day later. Under\nthe agreement, Israeli forces withdrew to a line called the Yellow Line\nand continue to control more than 50 percent of Gaza\u2019s territory.<\/p>\n
At the end of July, the Board of Peace announced that Hamas had\nagreed to a roadmap for implementing the next phase of the Gaza\nceasefire agreement.<\/p>\n
