Denpasar (Atnews) - The Kura-Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ),\nlocated in Denpasar City, Bali Province, has been officially declared\nready for operation. The 498-hectare area, developed by PT Bali Turtle\nIsland Development (BTID), based on Government Regulation No.\u00a023\/2023,\nwas confirmed through the Decree of the National Council of SEZ\nNo.\u00a07\/2024 dated June 26, 2024.<\/p>\n
The confirmation was made directly by the leadership of PT BTID when\nreceiving the Recess Working Visit Team of Commission XII of the\nIndonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the fifth Session\nPeriod of the 2025\u20132026 Session Year, accompanied by representatives of\nthe Bali Provincial Government, at the Kura-Kura Bali (Turtle Island)\nSEZ in Denpasar on Thursday (Jul 23).<\/p>\n
The Commission XII Working Visit was received by the President\nDirector of PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), Tuti Hadiputranto,\nand the President Commissioner of PT BTID, Tantowi Yahya.<\/p>\n
The Commission XII Working Visit entourage was led by Team Leader\nSugeng Suparwoto, M.T., who is also the Deputy Chairman of Commission\nXII, accompanied by Deputy Team Leader, Dr.\u00a0Bambang Patijaya, SE., MM.,\nDony Maryadi Oekon, S.T., and Deputy Team Leader, Putri Zulkifli Hasan,\nS.Mn., M.Bus.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Recess Working Visit of House of Representatives\nCommission XII was attended by the Director General of Electricity at\nthe Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), the Director\nGeneral of New and Renewable Energy Conservation (NEC), the Director\nGeneral of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources\n(MEMR)<\/p>\n
the Deputy for Environmental Management and Sustainable Natural\nResources at the Ministry of Environment (KLH), the Deputy for\nInvestment Planning at the Ministry of Investment\/Investment\nCoordinating Board (BKPM)<\/p>\n
the Deputy for Investment Cooperation at the Ministry of\nInvestment\/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), President Director of\nPT PLN (Persero), President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero),\nPresident Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, and President Director\nof PT Bali Turtle Island Development, as well as the Bali Provincial\nGovernment.<\/p>\n
President Director of PT BTID, Tuti Hadiputranto, explained that SEZ\nstatus provides significant competitive advantages for investors through\nthe provision of various fiscal incentives, including tax holidays,\nvalid for up to 20 years.<\/p>\n
As a strategic hub for sustainable tourism and the creative industry,\nthe Kura-Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ) recorded cumulative\ninvestment realization of IDR 1.79 trillion (approximately USD113.68\nmillion) as of the second quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, overall development investment in the area since the\ninitial SEZ proposal process has reached a staggering IDR 2.85 trillion\n(USD184.53 million).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are a special economic zone specifically designed for tourism and\nthe creative industry. Since we are a SEZ, we can receive various\nincentives, such as tax holidays and others, which we can enjoy for 20\nyears. The National SEZ Council has now declared us ready to operate,\u201d\nsaid Tuti.<\/p>\n
In its development, the Kura-Kura Bali SEZ upholds the 6L philosophy\n(Living, Learning, Leisure, Landscape, Lifestyle, and Longevity) that\nharmonizes the relationship between humans and others, nature, and God\n(Tri Hita Karana).<\/p>\n
In addition to the ease of incentives, Tuti revealed the long track\nrecord of environmental transformation in the Kura-Kura Bali Special\nEconomic Zone (SEZ) which took over a decade.<\/p>\n
The land previously dominated by barren coral and sand was\nsuccessfully re-fertilized through natural soil enrichment methods using\nlivestock manure before finally being planted with hundreds of thousands\nof trees.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow green is this place? This land used to be barren, filled with\nonly coral and sand. What we did was release hundreds of wild buffalo\nand cows here. The cow and buffalo manure made the soil fertile.<\/p>\n
Ultimately, we purchased and planted 700,000 trees here. It took over\n10 years to do this, so it was not a quick process,\u201d Tuti explained the\nhistory of the area reforestation.<\/p>\n
This area also serves as a habitat for over 160 to 170 species of\nmigratory birds and boasts 80 active temples that continue to be\nutilized by the local community.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the area boasts a 300-hectare mangrove area. Aside from\nbeing managed by the developer, part of the mangrove area will be\ndeveloped into a Mangrove Center in collaboration with the government\nand the University of Indonesia (UI). In addition, PT BTID has also\nestablished international collaborations with Conservation\nInternational.<\/p>\n
In terms of accessibility, the Kura-Kura Bali Special Economic Zone\n(SEZ) offers excellent integrated connectivity with major business\ncenters of Bali. Connected by a toll road network, the area is\naccessible from various vital points: 15 minutes to Denpasar City\nCenter, 20 minutes to Ngurah Rai International Airport, and 30 minutes\nto major tourist destinations such as Sanur, Kuta, Seminyak, and Nusa\nDua.<\/p>\n
The economic impact of this area is directly felt by the local\ncommunity. To date, the Kura Kura-Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has\nemployed 5,316 people, more than 50 percent of whom are local Balinese,\nparticularly from Serangan Village.<\/p>\n
