Kupang still facing water shortages<\/p>\n
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: The Kupang administration has
\nfailed to draw up a master plan for the supply of clean water and
\nhas been ignoring the demands and needs of locals for years, a
\nlegislator from the local chapter of the Indonesian Democratic
\nParty of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) said here on Monday.<\/p>\n
Gusti Beribe said that the short annual rainy season should
\nnot be used as an excuse by the local administration for
\ncontinuing clean water shortages in the city.<\/p>\n
The main problem was that the city administration could not
\nmanage the resources available to cope with the water crisis.<\/p>\n
\"The administration should provide funds for building
\nreservoirs and water installations in strategic locations in the
\ncity to channel the water supplied from areas where water pumps
\nhave been installed.<\/p>\n
\"Local officials should pay serious attention to this problem
\ninstead of engaging in corruption, and solve the water problem
\nthat has been blighting the city annually over the last two
