Sujiwo said the dispensation would be issued for micro-entrepreneurs,\nthe agricultural sector, and fishing vessels under seven Gross Tonnes\n(GT) as a temporary measure while awaiting an official decision from the\nDownstream Oil and Gas Regulator (BPH Migas).<\/p>\n
The swift move follows reports that water transport operations have\nhalted due to difficulties obtaining subsidised diesel and the high\nprice of non-subsidised fuel.<\/p>\n
\u201cStriking water transport operators is disastrous because it concerns\nthe wider public interest. Therefore I have asked all stakeholders to be\ngathered today to find solutions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The coordination meeting was attended by the deputy regent, regional\nsecretary, relevant regional devices, the DPRD, Pertamina\nrepresentatives, and water transport associations.<\/p>\n
From the discussion, the local government decided to take a temporary\nstep by issuing a dispensation for subsidised diesel purchases to\nmaintain the continuity of public transport services and economic\nactivity in coastal and inland waters.<\/p>\n
