        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Confederation of Trade Unions (KSPSI) has requested\nthat President Prabowo Subianto inaugurate the Marsinah Museum during\nthe International Labour Day or May Day commemorations at the National\nMonument in Central Jakarta on 1 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea stated that the inauguration of\nthe Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk, East Java, would be an opportune moment\non May Day. This is one of three demands presented by KSPSI to\nPrabowo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remind you, Sir. You have a promise to inaugurate the Marsinah\nMuseum, a symbol of the workers\u2019 struggle in Nganjuk, East Java,\u201d Andi\nsaid during a speech alongside other labour union leaders at Monas,\nJakarta, on 1 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Andi hopes that Prabowo will make time during the May Day events to\ninaugurate the Marsinah Museum.<\/p>\n<p>KSPSI\u2019s other demands include educational scholarships for labour\nactivists and a workers\u2019 hospital in industrial areas.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo conferred the National Hero title on Marsinah during a\nceremony at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday, 10 November\n2025.<\/p>\n<p>Presidential Military Secretary Wahyu Yudhayana read out the decision\ndesignating ten names. He stated that the conferral was based on\nPresidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 116\/TK\/Year 2025\non the Conferral of National Hero Titles. \u201cConferring the National Hero\ntitle on those whose names are listed in this decision as a form of\nappreciation and respect for their extraordinary services to the nation\nand state,\u201d Wahyu said.<\/p>\n<p>Marsinah was born in Nglundo, East Java, on 10 April 1969. She worked\nas a labourer at PT Catur Putra Surya (CPS) in Porong, Sidoarjo, and was\nknown as an activist fighting for workers\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n<p>On 3 May 1993, Marsinah led a demonstration at her workplace factory.\nAfter the action, police arrested and took her to the Sidoarjo Military\nDistrict Command Headquarters (Kodim 0816). There, she was allegedly\ntortured and brutally assaulted until she died. Her body was found on 8\nMay 1993 in the forest of Jegong Hamlet, Wilangan Village, showing signs\nof severe torture.<\/p>",
