The Presidential Chief of Staff, Muhammad Qodari, has clarified that the school revitalisation programme is managed directly by educational units, including school principals, parents, and local communities, rather than local governments, to foster self-management at the grassroots level. The initiative has created employment opportunities for 238,131 workers and boosted around 58,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM) through various project-related roles and local economic activities. Examples from regions like Karawang, Makassar, and Tangerang highlight how the programme has reduced unemployment and stimulated surrounding businesses, underscoring its broader socio-economic impact.

JAKARTA - The Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), Muhammad Qodari, has
revealed that the school revitalisation programme is not managed by
local governments (Pemda), but by educational units. Qodari explained
that educational units consist of school principals, parents of
students, and surrounding communities. “The Revit programme is
implemented through self-management at the educational unit level. So,
it is no longer through local governments, but directly managed by the
schools,” Qodari emphasised during a press conference in Jakarta on
Wednesday (25/3/2026). Available jobs include construction workers,
foremen, project supervisors, logistics providers, and micro, small, and
medium-sized enterprises (UMKM). Qodari claimed that numerous residents
have directly experienced the programme’s impact. For instance, Saiful
Anam (45), a resident of Poponcol Kidul, Karawang, returned to work as a
labourer after seven months of unemployment through the construction
project at SDN Karawang Kulon III. Similarly, Junaidi Danggala was
involved in the revitalisation project at SLB Negeri 2 Makassar, South
Sulawesi. “A third example is Waluyo, the foreman on the project at SMKN
5 Tangerang Regency, who stated that the presence of workers has boosted
rice stalls and snack vendors around the school. With these workers,
naturally everyone wants to shop in the surrounding area. They buy rice,
snacks, definitely from nearby,” Qodari said. Overall, the programme has
absorbed 238,131 workers and mobilised around 58,000 UMKM, from building
material suppliers and food stalls to transportation and printing
services.
",
