Dudung Abdurachman has\nspoken out about the unrest that occurred during the 21st Aceh Peace Day\ncommemoration some time ago.<\/p>\n<p>Dudung stressed that the incident was only carried out by a handful\nof individuals in Aceh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my opinion, it was just a few individuals. The people of Aceh are\nloyal to the Republic of Indonesia. They exploited the situation \u2014 15\nAugust is Peace Day, but there were certain parties who took advantage\nof it. It was only a handful,\u201d Dudung said when met at the Presidential\nPalace in Central Jakarta on Monday (17\/8).<\/p>\n<p>Dudung confirmed that conditions there are now conducive and the red\nand white flag has been raised again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is already conducive. It did not take long before the red and\nwhite flag was flying again,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n<p>The unrest previously occurred in the courtyard of the Baiturrahman\nGrand Mosque in Banda Aceh during a dhikr and joint prayer to\ncommemorate the 21st Aceh Peace Day on Saturday (15\/8).<\/p>\n<p>The crowd raised the Bintang Bulan flag on the mosque\u2019s main pole\neven though officers had asked that the flag not be flown.<\/p>\n<p>The situation then heated up, leading to objects being thrown between\nthe crowd and officers. Police dispersed the crowd using tear gas.<\/p>\n<p>The Aceh Regional Police stated that the situation has returned to\nbeing under control and conducive. Joint personnel remain on standby\naround the location and patrols will be increased in several areas of\nAceh.<\/p>\n<p>Amid the situation, the government is also discussing a number of\nissues related to Aceh. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said\nPresident Prabowo Subianto has instructed him to coordinate with the\nHouse of Representatives regarding the revision of the Aceh Special\nAutonomy Law, which will expire in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Supratman said the government hopes that discussions on the revision\nof the law can be completed this year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Aceh Government and the Aceh Legislative Council have\nagreed to consult with the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding legal\ncertainty on the use of the Bintang Bulan flag. The agreement was\nreached in a coordination meeting of the Aceh Regional Leadership\nCoordination Forum following the unrest on Saturday (15\/8).<\/p>",
