The reopening of this access officially restores connectivity on\nthe Banda Aceh-Medan national road and facilitates smoother logistics\ndistribution.<\/p>\n
Vehicles can now traverse the two lanes of the new bridge freely\nwithout relying on a one-way traffic system. A strict alternating\ntraffic scheme had previously been implemented during the period when\nthe Bailey bridge was in use.<\/p>\n
The smooth flow of transport access is expected to accelerate the\ndistribution of various basic community needs. The shipment of\nagricultural products and various economic commodities to and from the\nBireuen area is believed to regain momentum.<\/p>\n
The Regent of Bireuen, Mukhlis, stated that the operation of this\nfacility is a vital pillar for the recovery of the region\u2019s\ninfrastructure, especially as the area was hit by devastating\nhydrometeorological disasters in November 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the opening of the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge, we hope to revive\nthe economy of the people of Bireuen Regency and Aceh, which were\nheavily impacted by the disaster,\u201d Mukhlis said in a written statement\non Monday (21\/9).<\/p>\n
The Krueng Tingkeum crossing facility previously suffered severe\ndamage due to flooding on 26 November 202<0xC2>5. This emergency\ncondition had paralysed vehicle flow on one of the main corridors of the\neastern Aceh route.<\/p>\n
The government subsequently installed an emergency Bailey bridge on\n27 December 2025 to maintain the vital artery of citizen connectivity.\nWhile this temporary access succeeded in maintaining vehicle flow, it\noften caused long queues during periods of heavy traffic.<\/p>\n
The permanent bridge, which now stands prominently, has a span length\nof 149.7 metres. The main structure of the bridge was built robustly\nusing high-quality steel girder frames.<\/p>\n
The construction process was executed directly by the Ministry of\nPublic Works through the Aceh National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN\nAceh). This work is part of the permanent handling agenda for strategic\ninfrastructure following disasters in the Sumatra region.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo restore the logistics route, we built this Krueng Tingkeum\nKutablang Bridge. Technically, the design and construction have been\nmonitored by colleagues at BPJN Aceh regarding quality and have\nundergone load testing,\u201d said Gatot.<\/p>\n
Following the diversion of traffic to the new bridge, the government\nis scheduled to continue repairs on the old bridge structure. This\nfollow-up action is considered crucial to strengthen the capacity and\nreliability of the inter-provincial national route in the long term.<\/p>\n
