        "content": "<p>Krakatau Steel cuts jobs<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): State-owned PT Krakatau Steel in Cilegon, West<br>\nJava, has received early retirement applications from 125 of its<br>\n530 laid-off employees.<\/p>\n<p>The company's president, Soetoro Mangoensoewargo, said the 125<br>\nemployees had been discharged in May and had been offered an<br>\nearly retirement package which guarantees special compensations<br>\nand bonuses.<\/p>\n<p>\"A reduction in employment is being made within the<br>\nrestructuring of the company,\" Ayup Sayrifudin, the company's<br>\npublic relations manager, said as quoted by Antara news agency,<br>\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Under its restructuring program, Krakatau Steel plans to<br>\nreduce the number of its employees from 9,000 to 6,000.
