KPUD reports party for misrepresenting 'member'<\/p>\n

A local poll organizer has reported the Regional United Party
\n(PPD) to the police for using the name of a civil servant in
\nKendari mayoralty, La Ode Abdul Rahim as a member of its
\nexecutive board.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Arafat, a member at the Kendari General Elections
\nCommission (KPU), said that the PPD's Kendari branch was reported
\nto the police because it had registered the name of the civil
\nservant as a member of its executive board while the party was
\napplying to KPUD to contest the upcoming election, but it was
\nmade without Abdul Rahim's consent.<\/p>\n
\"Worse, Abdul Rahim is a civil servant, so he is not allowed
\nto be on the party's executive board, unless he resigns from his
\npost,\" said Arafat.<\/p>\n
The case was discovered by the KPUD in November last year as
\nthe local poll organizer was verifying application documents
\nlodged by the party. The KPUD rechecked with authenticity of the
\ndocuments with several related parties. When the KPUD tried to
\nconfirm with Abdul Rahim that he was a member of the executive
\nboard of Kendari's PPD branch, Abdul Rahim claimed he had no idea
\nabout it.<\/p>\n
The KPUD then conveyed the case to the Kendari Elections
\nSupervisory Committee (Panwaslu) and Panwaslu reported it to the
\npolice in December last year.<\/p>\n
The police began questioning witnesses in the case on
\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
\"I have just been questioned as a witness in the case,\" Arafat
\nsaid on Wednesday at the Kendari Police headquarters.<\/p>\n
Whether the local KPU will disqualify the party in the
\nupcoming election in the mayoralty depends on the outcome of the
\ninvestigation by the police, said Arafat.<\/p>\n
Other witnesses questioned in the case were Ajessar Boy, a
\nmember of Panwaslu, Hasbuddin, a member of Kendari KPUD and La
\nOde Abdul Rahim.<\/p>\n
\"We cannot draw any conclusions in this case, because we are
\nstill questioning the witnesses and collecting evidence,\" said
\nKendari Police chief of detectives First. Insp. Yos Guntur.<\/p>\n
Separately, Andi Makmur, the chairman of PPD's Kendari branch,
\nsaid that the party admitted the mistake. He said that the party
\nhad apologized to Abdul Rahim, and Abdul Rahim had accepted the
\napology.<\/p>",
