KPU Jakarta selects four for Senayan stadium campaign<\/p>\n

Four of five presidential candidates will hold their outdoor
\ncampaign gathering at the main stadium of the Bung Karno Sports
\nComplex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, next month.<\/p>\n
Only Hamzah Haz and Agum Gumelar, candidates nominated by the
\nUnited Development Party (PPP), will hold their outdoor gathering
\nat the former Kemayoran airport ground in Central Jakarta. They
\nwere unable to book the stadium because it will be used by the
\nnational soccer team training for the World Cup.<\/p>\n
The schedule was announced by the Jakarta General Elections
\nCommission (KPUD) after meeting the campaign teams of the five
\npresidential candidates on Friday.<\/p>\n
The month-long campaign will kick off on June 1.<\/p>\n
Each candidate is given the opportunity to hold an outdoor
\ncampaign gathering at the provincial level and five gatherings
\nfor party members only at the municipal\/regental level.<\/p>\n
All candidates will participate in a joint parade next
\nTuesday. They are scheduled to sign a plaque with \"Ready to Win
\nor Lose\" etched on it. The plaque will be placed at the National
\nMonument (Monas) park in Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Each candidate is permitted to enter 10 floats at the most.<\/p>\n
KPUD chairman Muhamad Taufik said the parade would kick off
\nfrom either Monas park or City Hall and pass through Jl. Medan
\nMerdeka Selatan, Jl. M.H Thamrin, and Jl. Jend. Sudirman.<\/p>\n
\"Just like the legislative election campaign parade, the
\nfloats will stop at the Semanggi cloverleaf before leaving for
\ntheir respective venues in the five municipalities,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The KPUD has coordinated with the city police to arrange a
\nsecurity detail for each presidential\/vice presidential candidate
\nwho joins the parade. The National Police are providing
\nadditional security for presidential and vice presidential
\ncandidates during the campaign period until the July 5 election
\nand vote counting is completed.<\/p>\n
