Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri (KPRP) has\nrecommended that ex officio members should not serve on the Komisi\nKepolisian Nasional (Kompolnas).<\/p>\n
\u201cIts membership, which has previously included ex officio members,\nthe commission\u2019s recommendation states that in the future, to ensure\ngreater objectivity, the ex officio positions should be eliminated,\u201d\nsaid KPRP member retired General of Police Ahmad Dofiri during a press\nconference in South Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He stated that KPRP recommends the nine Kompolnas members should come\nfrom societal representatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cRepresentatives from retired high-ranking (pati) Polri officers,\nthen from senior advocates with proven experience, but they must not be\nactive advocates and must step down, as well as from academics and\ncommunity leaders. Something like that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, KPRP recommends expanding the duties and authority of\nKompolnas. The first recommendation is that Kompolnas can conduct direct\noversight in areas related to development within Polri.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether that is human resources (SDM), logistics, or budget, and\nalso related to operational fields,\u201d said Dofiri.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Kompolnas is recommended to conduct investigations\nrelated to violations of the Polri code of ethics, but trials will still\nbe carried out by the Komisi Kode Etik Polri (KKEP).<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Kompolnas considers the case significant, attracting public\nattention, and to ensure the ethics decision later, commissioners or\nKompolnas members can sit as part of the judges in the KKEP during its\ntrial,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Not only that, KPRP also recommends that Kompolnas have executive\npowers so that recommendations issued must be implemented by Polri.<\/p>\n
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto received the final report and\nrecommendations from the Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri, submitted by\nJimly Asshiddiqie as Chairman of the Commission at the Presidential\nPalace in Jakarta on Tuesday (5\/5).<\/p>\n
The President received several books, including one titled \u201cJembatan\nAspirasi untuk Reformasi Polri\u201d as well as \u201cTindak Lanjut\nRekomendasi\u201d.<\/p>\n
Its contents consist of various proposals and recommendations from\nthe Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri to carry out improvements in the\npolice institution.<\/p>\n
Yusril emphasised that the recommendations submitted are substantive\nand have the potential to bring major changes to the police\ninstitutional system. In fact, several proposals are considered capable\nof impacting revisions to the current Police Law.<\/p>\n
