        "content": "<p>Tanjungpinang - The Head of the Food and Nutrition Service Office\n(KPPG) for Riau, West Sumatra, and Riau Islands (Kepri) regions,\nSyartiwidya, stated that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme,\nparticularly in Kepri province, has absorbed 9,601 local workers. She\nexplained that the number of workers is distributed across 223 Nutrition\nFulfilment Service Units (SPPG) spread over seven regencies\/cities in\nKepri. \u201cEach SPPG requires around 40 to 50 volunteers\/operational\nworkers, covering positions such as cooks, logistics staff, cleaners,\ndrivers, as well as supported by SPPG heads, nutritionists, and\naccountants,\u201d said Syartiwidya when contacted from Tanjungpinang on\nMonday. She stated that the absorption of local workers indicates that\nthe MBG programme is one concrete solution to tackling unemployment\nrates, in addition to focusing on fulfilling the nutritional intake of\nbeneficiaries. \u201cThe beneficiaries consist of school participants,\ntoddlers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers,\u201d she said.\nMeanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Kepri, Nyanyang Haris Pratamura, who\nis also the Chair of the local MBG Working Group, appreciated the MBG\nfor providing many positive impacts, including absorbing workers as well\nas local agricultural products and SMEs for the needs of SPPG kitchens.\nIn addition, MBG also improves the nutritional intake of schoolchildren,\nsupports learning concentration and student attendance, and is part of\nefforts to prevent malnutrition and stunting. \u201cThe programme is not just\nabout food, but a long-term investment to produce a healthy,\nintelligent, and competitive generation,\u201d she said. She also highlighted\nthe characteristics of the Kepri region, which consists of islands, thus\npresenting its own challenges in terms of distribution and programme\nimplementation in the field. Therefore, cross-sectoral synergy, strong\ncoordination, and innovation in implementing the Asta Cita programme are\nneeded. Nyanyang also emphasised the compliance of partners and\nfoundations in managing MBG in accordance with the Standard Operating\nProcedures (SOP) set by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
