Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has\nstated that the house arrest status of Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, a suspect in\nthe alleged Hajj quota corruption case and former Minister of Religious\nAffairs, is not permanent or indefinite.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis transfer is indeed not permanent,\u201d said KPK Spokesperson Budi\nPrasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Therefore, he said the KPK will inform the public about how long\nYaqut will remain under house arrest.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will update (announce) it later regarding until when,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Previously, on 21 March 2026, the wife of the defendant in the\nalleged extortion corruption case and former Deputy Minister of Manpower\nImmanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, Silvia Rinita Harefa, spoke to journalists\nafter visiting her husband.<\/p>\n
Silvia told the journalists waiting for her that information was\ncirculating among the detainees about Yaqut not being seen in the\ndetention centre.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t see Gus Yaqut earlier. The info is that he left on Thursday\nnight (19\/3),\u201d said Silvia on Saturday afternoon (21\/3).<\/p>\n
She continued that she had received information that Yaqut was also\nnot seen during the Eid al-Fitr prayers on 21 March 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople inside say he\u2019s not there. He\u2019s not around,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
When further questioned whether only Ebenezer knew about this\ninformation, she stated that all detainees knew.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone knows about it. They\u2019re just wondering. They said there was\nan examination, but it\u2019s unlikely to have an examination on the eve of\nTakbiran night. Even until today (Saturday, 21\/3), there\u2019s none,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Therefore, she suggested that journalists verify the information she\nreceived.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night (21\/3), the KPK confirmed to Silvia that Yaqut had\nbeen under house arrest since the night of 19 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Yaqut was placed under house arrest after his family requested it\nfrom the KPK on 17 March 2026. The KPK assured that it would continue to\nmonitor Yaqut.<\/p>\n
It is known that Yaqut was named as one of the suspects in the\nalleged corruption case related to Indonesia\u2019s Hajj quota for 2023-2024\nby the KPK on 9 January 2026.<\/p>\n
On 12 March 2026, the KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK\u2019s Red and White\nBuilding Branch State Detention Centre after his pre-trial was rejected\non 11 March 2026.
