The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed the total
value of assets seized in the 2023-2024 hajj quota corruption case
involving former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. The KPK
stated that assets worth over Rp100 billion have been confiscated in
this matter.

“In this case, the KPK has also conducted asset seizures reaching a
value of over Rp100 billion,” said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for
Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, during a press conference at KPK
headquarters in South Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Asep noted that the seizure includes foreign currency in USD and
Saudi Riyals as well as Rupiah cash. The total also encompasses seizures
of vehicles and land.

“Comprising cash totalling USD 3.7 million, Rp22 billion and SAR
16,000, as well as 4 vehicles, and 5 plots of land and buildings,” Asep
stated.

Yaqut received fees from the hajj quota corruption case, according to
the KPK’s findings. The commission stated that Yaqut received fees
following his approval of a proposal for additional hajj quota
distribution in 2023.

Asep explained that Yaqut received fees for the hajj pilgrimage
departures in 2023 and 2024. These fees were received by Yaqut because
he agreed to the distribution and acceleration of special hajj
departures without requiring the standard queue system.

Asep clarified that during the 2023 hajj period, the acceleration fee
from the hajj organiser (PIHK) for fulfilling additional special hajj
quota allocation amounted to USD 5,000 or approximately Rp84.4 million
per pilgrim. One method involved converting pilgrims with mujamalah
visas to special hajj status.

“Based on the KPK investigation team’s findings, the hajj organiser
(RFA) also provided this acceleration fee to Yaqut, another official
(IAA), and several officials at the Religious Affairs Ministry,” Asep
said.

For the 2024 period, the agreed fee value was USD 2,000 or
approximately Rp33.8 million per pilgrim. The distribution and
collection of these fees occurred between February and June 2024.

The audit body BPK has completed its calculation of state financial
losses in the 2024 hajj quota case. The KPK disclosed that state losses
in this matter amount to Rp622 billion.

“Essentially, in this corruption case, state losses totalling
Rp622,090,207,166 have occurred, thus clearly establishing that the
corruption case related to hajj quota constitutes a corruption case that
meets the criteria of Article 11 paragraph 1 letter d of the KPK Law,
namely involving state losses of at least Rp1 billion,” stated the KPK
Legal Bureau team at South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, 4
March.
",
