KPK to examine officials' wealth<\/p>\n

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will soon examine the
\nwealth reports of 831 of the city's top-ranking officials.<\/p>\n
City personnel office head Sukesti Martono said on Wednesday
\nthat the echelon II and III, the heads of working units, district
\nheads and subdistrict heads, and officials who hold key positions
\nin city agencies would be included.<\/p>\n
According to him, the governor, deputy governor, city
\nsecretary and three echelon I officials, have already submitted
\ntheir wealth reports to the anticorruption commission.<\/p>\n
\"Those officials are required to fill in the forms prepared by
\nthe KPK and should return them within six weeks,\" Sukesti said
\nafter briefing the 831 officials.<\/p>\n
In its latest report, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) revealed
\nalleged irregularities in the expenditure of several city
\noffices, including the Central Jakarta and North Jakarta
\nmunicipal offices, the City Transportation Agency, City Mining
\nAgency, busway management BP TransJakarta and City Public
\nLighting Agency.<\/p>\n
Activists have estimated that as much as 30 percent of last
\nyear's Rp 13 trillion budget was embezzled by city officials.<\/p>\n
The examination, according to Sukesti, follows an agreement
\nsigned by Governor Sutiyoso and KPK chairman Erry Riyana late
\nlast year on the assessment of the wealth of the administration's
\nkey officials.<\/p>",
