The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has highlighted suspected\ncorruption within the new student admission process at Jenderal\nSoedirman University (Unsoed), involving the Rector and Vice-Rector. The\nKPK suspects that such corrupt practices in the admission process may\nalso be occurring at other higher education institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are suspicions that practices of manipulation in the new\nstudent admission process are not only occurring at Unila (University of\nLampung) or Unsoed, but are also believed to be widespread in other\ncampuses,\u201d stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and\nWhite Building, South Jakarta, on Monday (3antum 31\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
Budi explained that the handling of the corruption case at Unsoed is\nthe second of its kind after the KPK handled a similar case at Unila in\n2022. He noted that since the Unila case, the KPK has issued circular\nletters as a preventive measure.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 2022, in response to the Unila case, the KPK issued circular\nletters to state universities, state religious universities, and state\npolytechnics,\u201d said Budi.<\/p>\n
Budi also urged the public not to hesitate to report to the KPK if\nthey find indications of corruption within state university\nenvironments, whether in the student admission process or other\nmatters.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe urge the public, if you know of or experience suspected practices\nsimilar to the Unsoed case, please report to the KPK. Everything will be\nreviewed, analysed, and followed up. The KPK\u2019s approach will depend on\nthe issues reported by the public,\u201d said Budi.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe call upon university entities to take this seriously. It is hoped\nthat this issue serves as a catalyst for improving the campus ecosystem\ntowards greater integrity. This must involve real steps, not just\ncommitments, but actual efforts to improve the system,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
It is known that the Rector of Jenderal Soedirman University\n(Unsoed), Akhmad Sodiq, and five others have been named suspects in a\ncase involving extortion and gratification related to the independent\nselection track for new students. The KPK revealed three distinct\nclusters in this case.<\/p>\n

First Cluster: Extortion<\/strong><\/p>\n In August 2026, Norman, acting as Vice-Rector with Sodiq\u2019s knowledge,\ninstructed two intermediaries, Dian Mulia Wardhana (DMW) and Adhi\nWiharto (AW), to set a price of Rp 650 million for parents whose\nchildren wished to pass the independent selection for the Faculty of\nMedicine (FK).<\/p>\n \u201cBoth individuals, acting as private parties, allegedly demanded Rp\n650 million from the parents of prospective students in the Faculty of\nMedicine,\u201d explained Acting Director of KPK Investigations, Achmad\nTaufik Husein, on Monday (24\/8).<\/p>\n The demand was met by the parents. However, instead of passing the\nselection, the students failed. Unhappy with this, the parents requested\na refund. However, Dian and Adhi could not return the Rp 650 million as\nit had already been spent.<\/p>\n \u201cThis means the money provided by the parents was used by DMW and AW\nthemselves,\u201d added Taufik.<\/p>\n The two then informed Vice-Rector Norman. Norman, with the permission\nof Rector Akhmad Sodiq, subsequently borrowed money from a private party\nto repay the funds. With Sodiq\u2019s knowledge, Norman promised to repay the\nloan through the disbursement of three project packages within the\nUnsoed environment, including canopy procurement, canteen renovation,\nand building painting.<\/p>\n Second Cluster: Gratification 2025-2026<\/strong><\/p>\n The second cluster relates to gratification during the 2025-2026\nstudent admission selection. Sodiq allegedly gave instructions to his\nnephew, Mulyono, using the code: \u2018don\u2019t ask for it upfront, if given,\nsay thank you.\u2019<\/p>\n With Sodiq\u2019s knowledge, Mulyuno allegedly received at least Rp 680\nmillion. Sodiq also instructed Mulyuno to use the funds to pay for the\npurchase of three plots of land registered under Mulyuno\u2019s name.<\/p>\n Third Cluster: Dowry Negotiations<\/strong><\/p>\n The third cluster concerns \u2018dowry\u2019 negotiations occurring in 2026.\nThis began when the Head of Academic Division, Eko Sumanto, \u2018tasked\u2019\nwith negotiating with collectors to extort prospective students via the\npromise of passing the selection.<\/p>\n Eko established intense communication with these collectors.\nSubsequently, Eko conducted \u2018dowry negotiations\u2019 with the knowledge of\nSodiq.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the same period (2026), it was found that Eko, as the Head of\nAcademic Division at Unsoed, communicated with one of the collectors of\nprospective students at Unsoed. In that communication, Eko, with the\nknowledge of Akhmad Sodiq, conducted \u2018dowry negotiations\u2019 regarding the\nindependent selection process,\u201d said Taufik.<\/p>\n Following the agreement on the \u2018dowry\u2019, Eko received a total of Rp\n1.12 billion from one of the collectors.<\/p>",
