Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption\nEradication Commission (Dewas KPK) says it is still handling a report of\nalleged ethics violations concerning the transfer of detention of Yaqut\nCholil Qoumas, a suspect in the alleged hajj quota corruption case.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are in the process of examining the case, to determine whether\nthe allegations are proven or not,\u201d said Dewas KPK Chair Gusrizal at the\nKPK Anti-Corruption Education Centre building in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dewas KPK member Sumpeno said the Board had received 14\ncomplaints of alleged ethics violations during 2026, up to 31 July\n2026.<\/p>\n
In addition, he said the Dewas KPK was still processing one complaint\nreceived in 2025.<\/p>\n
He went on to explain that eight of the 15 complaints are currently\nbeing analysed by the Dewas KPK.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, five other reports have reached the clarification stage,\nand two others have been processed in ethics hearings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are two ethics hearings, one of which concerns a complaint\nfrom 2025. So one of the ethics hearing complaints was received by the\nsupervisory board in 2025, but is being tried in 2026,\u201d Sumpeno\nsaid.<\/p>\n
According to him, the supervisory board has handed down a heavy\npenalty and a moderate sanction respectively on a KPK employee.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully, by the end of 2026, ethics violations will not be\ncommitted frequently by KPK personnel. Hopefully so,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Previously, on 1 April 2026, the Dewas KPK said it was following up\non a number of public complaints concerning the transfer of Yaqut\u2019s\ndetention.<\/p>\n
The complaints, according to the Dewas KPK, questioned the legal and\nethical basis behind the decision to change Yaqut\u2019s detention status\nfrom a state detention house (rutan) to house arrest.<\/p>\n
The KPK began investigating the alleged corruption in Indonesia\u2019s\n2023\u20132024 hajj quota on 9 August 2025.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, on 9 January 2026, the KPK named Yaqut and his former\nspecial staff member, Ishfah Abidal Aziz, also known as Gus Alex, as\nsuspects.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Fuad Hasan Masyhur, the owner of the hajj organising\nbureau Maktour, was not named a suspect, although he was briefly barred\nfrom travelling abroad.<\/p>\n
The KPK then received the results of a Financial Audit Agency audit\non 24 February 2026, which put the potential state loss in the case at\nRp622 billion.<\/p>\n
Yaqut was detained at the Red-and-White Building Branch of the KPK\nDetention House on 12 March 2026, while Ishfah was detained five days\nlater.<\/p>\n
Yaqut\u2019s detention status was briefly changed to house arrest on 19\nMarch 2026 at his family\u2019s request. However, he was returned to the KPK\ndetention house on 24 March 2026.<\/p>\n
In a further development of the case, the KPK named two new suspects\non 30 March 2026, namely Maktour Operations Director Ismail Adham and\nformer General Chairman of the Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Tour Operators\nAssociation, Asrul Aziz Taba. Both were subsequently detained on 8 June\n2026.<\/p>\n
On 24 June 2026, the KPK transferred Yaqut\u2019s detention period to the\nNational Police Hospital after he suffered a digestive tract health\nproblem. The KPK detained Yaqut again on 9 July 2026.<\/p>\n
On 14 July 2026, the KPK announced it had handed over the case files\nof Yaqut and three other suspects to the KPK Prosecution Directorate\n(JPU KPK).
