        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned five civil\nservants from the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services to\nbe examined as witnesses in an alleged extortion case involving the\nprocessing of stay permits for foreign nationals (WNA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe KPK has scheduled the examination of witnesses at the KPK Merah\nPutih Building, Jakarta, namely RRS as Head of Section, DAP as\nAdministrative Staff to the Deputy Minister of Immigration and\nCorrectional Services, JUN as a member of the Status Transfer Team of\nthe Directorate General of Immigration, HSW as Head of Sub-directorate,\nand ROT as the Head of the Limited Stay Permit Team of the Directorate\nGeneral of Immigration,\u201d stated KPK Spokesperson BKS Budi Prasetyo to\njournalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Budi noted that the KPK has also summoned FRE and PPT,\nrepresenting the private sector, to be examined as witnesses in the\ncase.<\/p>\n<p>During the operation, the KPK arrested 17 individuals, consisting of\neight state officials or civil servants and nine private sector\nindividuals suspected of acting as intermediaries in the processing of\nimmigration documents.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional\nServices, Silmy Karim, visited the KPK on 3 June 2026 to surrender\nhimself.<\/p>\n<p>On 4 June 2026, the KPK named eight individuals as suspects in the\nalleged extortion case regarding the processing of foreign national stay\npermits during the 2022\u20132026 period within the Ministry of Law and Human\nRights, which subsequently transitioned to the Ministry of Immigration\nand Correctional Services.<\/p>\n<p>The eight suspects include Silmy Karim, who served as the Director\nGeneral of Immigration for the 2023\u20132024 period; the Acting Director\nGeneral of Immigration for the 2024\u20132025 period, Saffar Muhammad Godam;\nthe Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of\nImmigration, Jaya Saputra, who previously served as Director of Stay\nPermits and Immigration Status for 2024\u20132025; and the Head of the Class\nI Special Non-TPI Immigration Office of West Jakarta, Ronald Arman\nAbdullah.<\/p>\n<p>Other suspects include the Head of Sub-directorate at the Directorate\nof Stay Permits and Immigration Status, Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus\nBramantyo; the Head of the Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) Status Transfer\nTeam, Juniadi Sri Priambudi; and Sub-directorate of Stay Permits staff,\nGusti Benardiansyah.<\/p>",
