The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed the latest\ndevelopments in the handling of the alleged corruption case involving\nPemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro. The anti-graft body stated that the\ncase has now been elevated to the investigation stage and split into two\ndifferent clusters.<\/p>\n
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the decision was made after\ninvestigators conducted an expose on Wednesday night. \u201cThe results of\nthe expose decided that this case is elevated to the investigation stage\nfor two case clusters,\u201d Budi Prasetyo said at the KPK\u2019s Red and White\nBuilding in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The division of the case into two clusters was carried out to\nfacilitate the investigation process into the alleged criminal acts of\ncorruption that emerged from the hand-catching operation (OTT) against\nthe Pemalang Regent.<\/p>\n
The first cluster is related to the alleged extortion committed by\nAnom Widiyantoro against several parties. According to Budi, the alleged\nextortion not only targeted officials within the Pemalang Regency\nGovernment but also involved private parties. \u201cThe first cluster is\nrelated to the alleged extortion committed by Anom Widiyantoro against\nPemalang Regency Government officials and private parties,\u201d he stated.\nHowever, the KPK has not yet provided details regarding the form of the\nalleged extortion, the amount of money involved, or the projects that\nare the subject of the investigation.<\/p>\n
In addition to the extortion case implicating the Regent, the KPK has\nalso opened an investigation into a second cluster. This cluster is\nrelated to an alleged extortion carried out by an internal KPK officer\nagainst the Pemalang Regent. \u201cThe second cluster is related to the\nalleged extortion committed by a KPK officer against the Pemalang\nRegent,\u201d Budi said.
