        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) seized a number of\nvehicles after searching the residence of former Deputy Minister for\nImmigration and Corrections for the 2025-2026 period, Silmy Karim, in\nKebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Friday evening (5\/6). KPK\ninvestigators took approximately five hours to search for evidence\nallegedly linked to a case of extortion relating to foreign nationals\u2019\nresidence permits and the receipt of gratuities between 2022 and 2026.\nBased on observations at the scene, a tow truck was seen carrying\nseveral vehicles covered with black cloth. A tow truck behind it\ntransported two Harley-Davidson motorcycles, one Ducati motorcycle, and\nseveral bicycles. In addition, two luxury cars, a red Porsche and a\nsilver Porsche, were also taken away. Shortly after, vehicles carrying\nKPK investigators and a company of heavily armed Mobile Brigade Corps\n(Brimob) officers left Silmy\u2019s residence. The KPK has named eight\nindividuals as suspects in the alleged extortion case related to foreign\nnationals\u2019 residence permits and the receipt of gratuities within the\nDirectorate General of Immigration between 2022 and 2026. They are Silmy\nKarim; Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period,\nSaffar Muhammad Godam; Director of Residence Permits, Jaya Saputra;\nSub-Directorate Heads at the Directorate of Residence Permits, Bagus\nBramantyo and Tessar Bayu Setyaji; Head of the Central Jakarta\nImmigration Office for 2024-2025 and Head of the West Jakarta\nImmigration Office for 2025-2026, Ronald Arman Abdullah; Head of the\nLimited Stay Permit Status Transfer Team, Juniadi Sri Priambudi; and\nStaff of the Residence Permit Sub-Directorate, Gusti Bernardiansyah.\nThey have been detained for an initial 20-day period from 4 June to 23\nJune 2026 at the KPK Detention Centre, Branch C1, and the Merah Putih\nBuilding. The suspects are charged with violating Article 12 letter e\nand\/or Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes in\nconjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning\nthe Criminal Code.
