        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched the Class I\nSpecial Non-TPI Immigration Office in South Jakarta in connection with\nan investigation into alleged extortion in the processing of residence\npermits for foreign nationals, a case that has ensnared the Deputy\nMinister of Immigration and Correctional Services for 2024\u20132026, Silmy\nKarim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe search only just finished at around 6pm Western Indonesia Time,\nafter maghrib,\u201d said Acting Director of KPK Investigations Achmad Taufik\nHusein at the KPK\u2019s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday\n(4\/8).<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Taufik said he could not disclose the results of the\nsearch at this time. \u201cThere will be updates on the search results\ndelivered by the spokesperson (KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo),\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the KPK carried out a sting operation (OTT) related to\nalleged corruption in the processing of foreign nationals\u2019 residence\npermits on 2\u20133 June 2026. It was the 11th sting operation conducted by\nthe KPK in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>On 4 June 2026, the KPK named eight suspects in the alleged extortion\nof foreign nationals\u2019 residence permit processing during 2022\u20132026\nwithin the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which later became the\nMinistry of Immigration and Correctional Services.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the Director-General of Immigration for 2023\u20132024, Silmy\nKarim, the other suspects include the Acting Director-General of\nImmigration for 2024\u20132025, Saffar Muhammad Godam.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK also named the Head of the West Java Regional Office of the\nDirectorate-General of Immigration, Jaya Saputra; the Head of the Class\nI Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta, Ronald Arman\nAbdullah; the Head of the Sub-Directorate of the Residence Permit and\nImmigration Status Directorate, Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus Bramantyo;\nthe Head of the Limited Stay Permit Status Transfer Team, Juniadi Sri\nPriambudi; and a staff member of the Residence Permit Sub-Directorate,\nGusti Benardiansyah, as suspects.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects allegedly gained Rp145.5 billion from the practice\nthroughout 2022\u20132026.<\/p>",
