Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated it does not yet see an urgent need for intensive coordination with the Attorney General's Office (AGO) regarding the investigation into alleged corruption in the free nutritious meal programme (MBG). KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto noted that the AGO's special crimes unit is already actively conducting its own investigation, including coercive measures. The KPK will continue to monitor the AGO's progress before deciding if direct synchronisation is required.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not yet identified
any critical need for intensive coordination with the Attorney General’s
Office (AGO) regarding the handling of an alleged corruption case within
the MBG programme. The anti-graft body considers that the process
underway at the AGO can still be monitored without requiring further
action from the KPK. “Perhaps because it is still new, there are many
examination activities being taken seriously, while there is nothing
direct yet,” said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at the parliamentary
complex in Senayan, Wednesday (17/6). According to Setyo, the KPK
observes that the AGO has been carrying out the law enforcement process
through its special crimes investigators, so there is no pressing need
for further synchronisation yet. “Of course, if they have carried out
coercive measures, there have been arrests, searches, seizures and so
on, and then there are activities carried out by the AGO investigators,
particularly from Special Crimes, we currently see that it is already
underway. So perhaps it can be said that it is not too important yet for
us to coordinate,” he said. Setyo also touched on the progress of the
case handling, which has now entered a more advanced stage at the AGO.
According to him, the legal steps already taken provide room for
investigators to delve into the entire construction of the case. “With
the process of coercive measures, the Jampidsus investigators are
certainly free to dissect the entire case,” he said.
",
