        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has responded to a\nstatement by former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and\nSecurity Affairs Mahfud MD regarding the transfer of a corruption case\ninvolving Febrie Adriansyah (FA), which he claimed did not comply with\nthe Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). \u201cYes, we respect the ongoing legal\nprocess regarding the transfer carried out by the Police to the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office,\u201d said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK\u2019s Red\nand White Building in Jakarta on Monday. He explained that the KPK\nrespects this because the investigation is still in its early stages,\neven though its handling has been transferred from the Indonesian\nNational Police (Polri) to the Attorney General\u2019s Office. Nevertheless,\nhe said the KPK continues to follow the development of the case\nhandling. \u201cCurrently, we are still following the progress of this case\ninvestigation because the transfer from the Police to the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office was only carried out last Saturday (11\/7),\u201d he said. He\nexplained that the KPK is still monitoring developments as the\ninvestigation process is still in its early stages, despite the transfer\nof handling from Polri to the Attorney General\u2019s Office. \u201cLet us be\npatient together. We will wait and see how it develops,\u201d he said.\nMeanwhile, he said the KPK views that both Polri and the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office have a strong commitment to handling the case, which\ndeserves public support. \u201cWe have also seen openly conveyed by the\nNational Police Chief and the Attorney General regarding the commitment\nof both institutions to process this investigation professionally and\ntransparently, so the public can also monitor and oversee every\ndevelopment of this case investigation,\u201d he said. Previously, the\nCorruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor) of Polri announced on\n6 July 2026 an investigation into alleged corruption and money\nlaundering in the procurement and supply of coal for several steam power\nplants for the 2018-2026 period. On 8 July 2026, Kortastipidkor Polri\nbegan searching several locations. Polri explained the searches were\nrelated to three cases: the alleged coal supply corruption announced two\ndays earlier, alleged corruption in Asabri and Jiwasraya insurance for\n2020-2025, and an alleged money laundering case in the debt settlement\nprocess of PT CBS to PT KNI under the jurisdiction of the Metro Jaya\nRegional Police. Febri Adriansyah, while still serving as Junior\nAttorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), held a press conference\non 10 July 2026, admitting that a house in Sentul, Bogor Regency, West\nJava, searched by Kortastipidkor Polri belonged to him. In the early\nhours of 11 July 2026, the Attorney General\u2019s Office announced Febri\nAdriansyah\u2019s resignation from the position of Jampidsus, which was\naccepted by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin. Later that afternoon,\nKortastipidkor Polri announced two suspects in connection with the three\ncases, one of whom was Febrie Adriansyah, and decided to transfer the\ncase handling to the Attorney General\u2019s Office. On 12 July 2026, Mahfud\nMD stated on his official YouTube channel that the transfer did not\ncomply with the KUHAP and proposed the KPK take over the investigation.\n\u201cThis mechanism of transferring or handing over further investigation\ndoes not exist in our criminal procedure law and has never happened\nbefore. There is no mechanism for transferring or moving investigative\nduties from the police to the Prosecutor\u2019s Office, or from the\nProsecutor\u2019s Office to the Police,\u201d Mahfud said. \u201cIndeed, there is a\npossibility of a takeover, but in accordance with Article 10A of Law\nNumber 19 of 2019 concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission, this\ntakeover can only be carried out by the KPK against investigations\nconducted by the Police or Prosecutor\u2019s Office.
