        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission respects the\nreport from the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) regarding\nalleged ethical violations by five anti-corruption agency leaders, from\nDeputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu to KPK\nSpokesperson Budi Prasetyo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKPK respects every report submitted by the public to the Oversight\nCouncil as part of the public control mechanism over the performance of\nthe agency\u2019s duties and authority,\u201d said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo\nto journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Budi stated that the anti-corruption agency is confident\nthat the KPK Oversight Council can respond to MAKI\u2019s report\nprofessionally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are confident that the KPK Oversight Council will follow up on\nthe report objectively, professionally, and independently,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>MAKI\u2019s report concerns alleged ethical violations regarding the\npolicy of transferring detention for suspects in the alleged hajj quota\ncorruption case, as well as former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut\nCholil Qoumas.<\/p>\n<p>The detention transfer involved moving from state detention centre\n(rutan) to house arrest, then back to KPK detention centre.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on 9 August 2025, KPK began investigating the alleged\ncorruption case related to Indonesia\u2019s hajj quota for 2023\u20132024.<\/p>\n<p>Those prevented from leaving the country were former Minister of\nReligious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex\nas Yaqut\u2019s special staff, and Fuad Hasan Masyhur as the owner of the\nMaktour hajj organising bureau.<\/p>\n<p>On 9 January 2026, KPK announced that two of the three prevented\nindividuals became suspects in the alleged hajj quota corruption case,\nnamely Yaqut and Gus Alex.<\/p>\n<p>However, Yaqut filed a pre-trial petition against the suspect\ndetermination at the South Jakarta District Court on 10 February 2026,\nregistered under case number 19\/Pid.Pra\/2026\/PN JKT.SEL.<\/p>\n<p>On 19 February 2026, KPK announced an extension of the travel ban\nonly for Yaqut and Gus Alex, while Fuad\u2019s was not extended.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, on 11 March 2026, the Panel of Judges at the South\nJakarta District Court rejected Yaqut\u2019s pre-trial petition.<\/p>\n<p>On 12 March 2026, KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK Branch State\nDetention Centre Gedung Merah Putih.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on 17 March 2026, KPK detained Gus Alex at the KPK Branch\nDetention Centre Gedung Pusat Edukasi Antikorupsi. While walking to the\ndetention vehicle, he stated that there was no order or flow of money in\nthe hajj quota case to Yaqut.<\/p>\n<p>On the same date, Yaqut\u2019s family requested KPK to allow the former\nMinister of Religious Affairs to be under house arrest. KPK then granted\nthe request, and Yaqut has been under house arrest since 19 March\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>On 23 March 2026, KPK announced that it was processing the transfer\nof Yaqut\u2019s detention from house arrest back to detention centre. On 24\nMarch 2026, Yaqut officially became a detainee at the KPK Detention\nCentre.<\/p>",
