        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized a number of\ndocuments and electronic evidence during searches at three locations in\nBali, linked to the ongoing investigation into alleged extortion of\nresidence permits for foreign nationals and\/or the acceptance of\ngratuities within the Directorate General of Immigration from 2022 to\n2026. The searches were conducted over three days from 17 to 19 June.\nThe three locations were the offices of PT. Visa Empat Bali, CV. Visa\nAgung Bali Teratai Promanende, and the Denpasar Class I TPI Immigration\nOffice. \u201cDuring the search, investigators seized a quantity of\nelectronic evidence and documents,\u201d said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo\non Saturday (20\/6). Budi stated that the evidence would be analysed to\nfurther illuminate the case, which has implicated former Deputy Minister\nof Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim as a suspect. \u201cThe seized\nevidence will subsequently be analysed by investigators to bring clarity\nto this case, in accordance with the elements of Article 12e and Article\n12B of the Anti-Corruption Law,\u201d he said. On Friday (19\/6), the KPK\nexamined Silmy Karim to deepen the evidence regarding the alleged\nextortion and gratuity acceptance. Silmy offered no comment on the case\nensnaring him. A total of eight individuals have been named as suspects\nby the KPK in the case of alleged extortion related to foreign\nnationals\u2019 residence permits and\/or the acceptance of gratuities within\nthe Directorate General of Immigration from 2022 to 2026. They are Silmy\nKarim; Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period,\nSaffar Muhammad Godam; Director of Residence Permits, Jaya Saputra;\nSub-directorate Heads at the Directorate of Residence Permits, Bagus\nBramantyo and Tessar Bayu Setyaji; Head of the Central Jakarta\nImmigration Office for 2024-2025 and Head of the West Jakarta\nImmigration Office for 2025-2026, Ronald Arman Abdullah; Head of the\nLimited Stay Permit Status Transfer Team, Juniadi Sri Priambudi; and\nStaff of the Residence Permit Sub-directorate, Gusti Bernardiansyah.\nThey have been detained at the KPK State Detention Centre. The suspects\nare charged with violating Article 12 letter e and\/or Article 12B of the\nLaw on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, in conjunction\nwith Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal\nCode. This case was uncovered by the KPK through a Sting Operation on\n2-3 June 2026. At that time, the KPK arrested 18 individuals, one of\nwhom, Silmy Karim, surrendered himself. The KPK also discovered and\nsecured a quantity of evidence suspected to be related to or the\nproceeds of criminal acts of corruption, with a total value reaching\nRp17.5 billion in various forms of evidence, including 7 cars, 15\nmotorcycles, 11 bicycles, balances in bank accounts and crypto asset\naccounts, as well as a quantity of foreign currency.<\/p>",
