The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has highlighted price differences for goods, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5, between the government's e-catalogue system and other platforms, viewing this as an opportunity to enhance anti-corruption efforts in public procurement. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo emphasised that such discrepancies fall under the agency's mandate to supervise government purchases and prevent corruption, urging greater digitalisation for efficiency while warning against price mark-ups. The commission also advocates for an integrity-driven business environment among vendors to minimise risks of manipulation in tender processes.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states
that price differences for goods between the e-catalogue and other
platforms serve as enrichment material for the anti-corruption agency
regarding government procurement of goods and services.

“We thank you for the information. This certainly provides
enrichment,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in
Jakarta on Tuesday.

Budi explained that these price differences enrich the KPK because
they relate to the anti-corruption agency’s duties and authority in
monitoring procurement of goods and services across the country and its
connection to corruption eradication.

“One of the KPK’s duties and authorities is to conduct coordination
and supervision related to ministries/institutions in efforts to
eradicate corruption as well as those related to public services. In
other words, procurement of goods and services falls into both of these
areas,” he said.

Budi stated that procurement of goods and services is one of the
sectors vulnerable to corruption offences, so the KPK pays attention to
these price differences.

“Therefore, the KPK certainly encourages the digitalisation of the
goods and services procurement process not only to promote effectiveness
in the process but also to ensure efficiency. It must not be misused for
price mark-ups,” he said.

In addition, Budi said the KPK encourages vendors or procurement
partners for goods and services to create an integrity-based business
climate.

“The hope is for a healthier business climate where we can minimise
or even close loopholes for price mark-ups and winner conditioning,” he
stated.

Budi made this statement following public buzz about the price of the
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5, which is the object of goods and services
procurement in the e-catalogue offered by PT Mitrawira Hutama Teknologi
at Rp17.9 million per unit.

Meanwhile, findings on the Lokapasar platform or the official company
website show the price of this telecommunications device ranging from
Rp9 million to Rp12.5 million.
",
