        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has signalled that it\nmay summon Endang Sri Hariyatie, wife of former Transport Minister Budi\nKarya Sumadi, as a witness in the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA)\ncase at the Transport Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The case concerns alleged bribery in connection with the construction\nand maintenance of railway lines under the Directorate General of\nRailways (DJKA) within the Ministry of Transport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny party believed to know and be able to explain or provide\nclarification to investigators, thereby illuminating this matter,\ncertainly has the possibility of being summoned and scheduled to provide\ntestimony,\u201d said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at KPK headquarters on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>However, he said the KPK would assess the progress of the\ninvestigation before deciding to summon Endang Sri Hariyatie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will assess developments as witness examinations are based on\nsufficiency of the investigative process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the case emerged following a raid conducted by the KPK on\n11 April 2023 at the Class I Railway Engineering Centre for Central Java\nRegion of the DJKA Ministry of Transport. The Centre has since been\nrenamed the Class I Railway Engineering Centre for Semarang.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK subsequently named and detained 10 suspects in connection\nwith the alleged corruption case involving railway construction and\nmaintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>As of 20 January 2026, the KPK has named and detained 21 suspects.\nThe KPK has also named two corporations as suspects in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged corruption offences involve construction projects for the\ndual-track railway line from Solo Balapan to Kadipiro to Kalioso;\nrailway construction projects in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway\nline construction projects and two supervision projects in Cianjur\nLampung, West Java; and level crossing improvement projects in Java and\nSumatra.<\/p>\n<p>In the construction and maintenance of these projects, there are\nallegations that project winners were predetermined by certain parties\nthrough manipulation from the administrative process through tender\naward determination.<\/p>\n<p>Budi Karya Sumadi had previously been examined by the KPK in this\ncase. He was last examined by the KPK as a witness in the alleged DJKA\ncorruption case on 9 March 2026.<\/p>",
